Obverse

Coat of arms, year of minting, country name in English, Greek and Turkish.

The coat of arms of the Republic of Cyprus is a dove holding an olive twig, the independence year 1960, laurel twigs around.

From 1991 the coin displays new coat of arms (KM# 55.3) where the laurel twigs no longer touch the shield.

Reverse

Value, head of a bull from a silver bowl (phiale) with a wish-boned handle of the 14th century BC from the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia.

From 1985 the value number framed by double line (KM# 55.2 and KM# 55.3) instead of a single one (KM# 55.1).
