Description

Castle of Siklós, situated in Hungary's Baranya County, has a rich history spanning over eight centuries. Originally built by the Héder clan in the 12th century, it played a vital role in protecting Hungary's southern borders. Over time, it passed through various noble families and underwent significant expansions, especially during Louis the Great's rule.

During the 16th century, the castle fell under Ottoman control, leading to further fortifications and administrative functions. However, in the late 17th century, it was recaptured by Habsburg forces, leading to renovations to enhance its defenses.

In the 18th century, Siklós Castle underwent Baroque and Renaissance renovations, adding intricate decorations to its structures. In the 20th century, restoration efforts transformed it into a revered cultural site, attracting tourists globally for guided tours of its ancient walls, towers, and courtyards.
