Ferenc Liszt, born on October 22, 1811, in Raiding, Hungary (nowadays Doborján, Austria), was a prominent Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, music teacher, and Franciscan tertiary. Liszt was a prominent figure in the Romantic era and is well-known for his innovative compositions and his virtuosic piano performances.
Some of Liszt's most famous compositions include his symphonic poems, piano concertos, and numerous solo piano works. He played a crucial role in the development of the solo piano recital and was considered one of the greatest pianists of his time.
Later in his life, Liszt became involved with the Weimar School, a group of composers and musicians centered around the city of Weimar in Germany. He also became a teacher and mentor to many other composers, including Richard Wagner. Liszt's contributions to music and his influence on later composers have solidified his place in musical history. He died on July 31, 1886, in Bayreuth, Germany. |

Franz Liszt (1811–1886) was a Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher of the Romantic era. Renowned for his virtuosic piano skills, he achieved widespread fame during the 1830s and 1840s, captivating audiences across Europe and sparking "Lisztomania." A key figure in the New German School alongside Wagner, Liszt supported and influenced many composers of his time. He also revolutionized piano education, leaving a lasting impact with innovations like the symphonic poem and thematic transformation. Liszt's later works foreshadowed 20th-century classical trends through experimentation with atonality.
