Obverse description
Shows a variety of children's sketches and writings. The central focus portrays two children playing on a ball, surrounded by handwritten phrases like "Hungarian People's Republic" and "200 Forint". Encircling the ball are names, animal drawings, and the sun. Above and below the illustrations, the circular inscription "INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF CHILDREN" is displayed, separated. The engraver's initials (FZ) are enclosed within a frame on the bottom. The majority of the obverse side of the coin — within a smooth border — is occupied by various children's drawings and inscriptions. As the main motif, two playing children are depicted on a ball, with childlike writing around them reading "Magyar Népköztársaság" (Hungarian People's Republic) and "200 forint". Around the ball, names as well as drawings of different animals and the Sun are visible. Above and below the drawings, the circular inscription "NEMZETKÖZI GYERMEKÉV" (INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF CHILDREN) is placed, divided. Before the word "GYERMEKÉV", the designer artist enclosed his initials "FZ" in a frame.

Coin description
UNESCO proclaimed 1979 as the International Year of the Child. The proclamation was signed on January 1, 1979 by United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim. A follow-up to the 1959 Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the proclamation was intended to draw attention to problems that affected children throughout the world, including malnutrition and lack of access to education. Many of these efforts resulted in the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. Engraved: Zoltán Fülöp In 1979, the United Nations declared it the International Year of the Child. This initiative was created to draw attention to the rights and well-being of children worldwide. The aim of the International Year of the Child was to promote respect for and protection of children's rights, as well as to encourage governments and civil society to do more to improve children's health, education, and welfare. Events and campaigns were held throughout the world during the year to highlight the rights and needs of children. This year also contributed to the development and adoption of international conventions on children's rights. Engraved: Zoltán Fülöp
