Description

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is an international organization of national parliaments. Its primary purpose is to promote democratic governance, accountability, and cooperation among its members; other initiatives include advancing gender parity among legislatures, empowering youth participation in politics, and sustainable development.

The Inter-Parliamentary Conference is the principal statutory body that expresses the views of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on political issues. The 98th Inter-Parliamentary Conference was inaugurated at a ceremony held in the Cairo International Conference Centre, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Giza pyramid complex is an archaeological site on the Giza Plateau, on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. This complex of ancient monuments includes the three pyramid complexes known as the Great Pyramids, the massive sculpture known as the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers' village and an industrial complex. It is located in the Libyan Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile river at the old town of Giza, and about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of Cairo city centre.
