Description

The World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships (officially: IFBB Men's World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships ) are the world championships in bodybuilding, which are held annually under the supervision of the world's largest bodybuilding association, the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness. The amateur title bouts made their debut in 1976, concurrently earning the IFBB Mr. Universe competition.

Mister Universe is one of the highest titles in bodybuilding. Since the first Mr. Universe election in 1947, there have been numerous competitions run by various bodybuilding associations under this name. Originally promoted as the Mr. Universe contest, the event was expanded to include women's classes in 1968. Notable previous winners include bodybuilder, actor, and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, and bodybuilder and actor Steve Reeves (1926–2000).
