Description

Since 1837, Buckingham Palace has been the official London residence of the British monarch, currently serving as the administrative headquarters for the monarchy and a focal point for national and royal celebrations. Originally purchased by George III in 1761 for Queen Charlotte, the building evolved from Buckingham House into a palace, with Queen Victoria being the first monarch to reside there in July 1837. Today, the Palace is a bustling venue for royal events, hosting over 50,000 guests annually, and features 775 rooms, including 19 State Rooms open to visitors each summer.
