Description

The inception of Qatar's first municipal council occurred in the early 1950s, undergoing a reorganization in 1956. The establishment of the Doha municipality took place in May 1963, while the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, tasked with overseeing municipal functions, was formed in 1972. Comprising a 29-member civic body, the council operates on a four-year term, with representatives from all 29 civic constituencies across the country.

Depicts a multicolored traditional house with a gate in front of a colored radiant sun inside a flag of Qatar in a half circle below and inscription in another half surrounded inscription in Arabic and English above and the date of the event below in Arabic and English numerals.

Reverse

Depicts a multicolor coat of arms of Qatar inside a flag of Qatar in a half circle with the country name in English below and an inscription in another half country name in Arabic above surrounded by the inscription in Arabic and English, denomination below in English.

The emblem shows two crossed white curved swords in a yellow circle. Between the swords, there is a sailing ship (dhow) sailing on blue and white waves beside an island with two palm trees.
