The national emblem of Oman is an insignia consisting of a khanjar inside its sheath that is superimposed upon two crossed swords. Adopted in the 18th century as the badge of the Omani royal family, it subsequently became the national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman. The emblem is featured at the canton on the Flag of Oman.

A khanjar (Arabic: خنجر‎‎, Persian: خنجر‎‎, Turkish: Hançer) is a traditional dagger originating from Oman. Worn by men for ceremonial occasions, it is a short curved sword shaped like the letter "J" and resembles a hook. It can be made from a variety of different materials, depending on the quality of its craftsmanship. It is a popular souvenir among tourists and is sold in souqs throughout the region. A national symbol of the sultanate, the khanjar is featured on the country's national emblem and on the Omani rial. It is also utilized in logos and commercial imagery by companies based in Oman.

Established in December 1974 and commencing operations on 1 April 1975, the Central Bank of Oman (CBO, Arabic: البنك المركزي العماني) assumed the role of the principal currency authority in Oman, replacing the Oman Currency Board. Currently under the leadership of Taimur bin Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, the CBO emerged following a period during which there was no national supervisory body for Oman's nascent banking system until Sultan Qaboos bin Said's ascension in 1970. Before its establishment, banking activities were limited in scale, and the preceding monetary authorities—the Muscat Currency Authority in 1970 and the Oman Currency Board in 1972—although not endowed with full banking status, laid the groundwork for the Central Bank of Oman's emergence. The enactment of the Banking Law in 1974, subsequently amended by Royal Decree No. 114/2000, marked a significant milestone signaling the imminent establishment of the Central Bank of Oman.
