The Estado de Buenos Aires, or State of Buenos Aires, emerged as a secessionist republic following the overthrow of the Argentine Confederation government in the Province of Buenos Aires on September 11, 1852. Although the Confederation never recognized the State of Buenos Aires, it maintained independence under its own government and constitution.
