Zoltán Kodály (1882–1967) was a renowned composer, ethnomusicologist, and educator celebrated for his profound impact on Hungarian music and culture. Influenced by his parents and early education, Kodály developed a lifelong passion for music. He conducted extensive fieldwork, collecting authentic Hungarian folk songs directly from peasant singers, which greatly influenced his compositions. As a professor at the Budapest Academy of Music, Kodály collaborated closely with Béla Bartók, promoting Hungarian folk music worldwide. Despite challenges during World War I and political unrest, Kodály advocated for music education and cultural preservation. His influence extended internationally through conferences and collaborations, enriching his musical legacy. Through his compositions and the Kodály Method, an influential approach to music education, Kodály's contributions endure, cementing his status as a significant figure in 20th-century music history.
