Description

Save the Children Fund, often referred to simply as Save the Children, is an international non-governmental organization established in the UK in 1919 with the aim of enhancing the well-being of children globally. Through fundraising efforts, it endeavors to enhance children's lives by facilitating access to improved education, healthcare, and economic prospects. Additionally, the organization holds general consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

Obverse

Depicts, against a background resembling wood grain, the outline of a child with outstretched arms, within which a sapling emerging from the ground represents the five continents with its five leaves, surrounded by the inscription "Save the children!" below.

Depicts a partially concealed child standing behind a loom, with the weaving pattern featuring a motif resembling a sapling, representing the Tree of Life. The engraver's monogram (S) is situated on the right side, with the country name (Hungarian People's Republic) positioned above, and the denomination in the center, separating the issue year and the mintmark (BP).
