Description

The 1992 Summer Olympics, commonly known as Barcelona '92, took place from July 25 to August 9 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. These games were notable as the last Olympics held in the same year as the Winter Games. They were also the first to follow the end of the Cold War and the first since 1972 to proceed without boycotts. Additionally, 1992 marked South Africa's return to the Olympics after a 32-year ban due to Apartheid. The Unified Team, consisting of former Soviet republics except the Baltic states, dominated the medal tally with 45 gold and 112 total medals.
