UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, stands as a premier UN agency dedicated to providing humanitarian and developmental assistance to children worldwide. Operating across 192 countries and territories, UNICEF delivers a wide array of services encompassing immunizations, disease prevention, HIV treatment, nutritional aid, sanitation enhancement, educational support, and emergency relief. Stemming from the International Children's Emergency Fund (ICEF) established in 1946, UNICEF was formally established by the U.N. General Assembly to institutionalize post-war relief endeavors. Since its inception, UNICEF has evolved to address both immediate and long-term needs of children and women, solidifying its place as a permanent fixture within the United Nations System since 1953.
