Description

The Jerash Oval Forum, dating to 110 AD, is a massive plaza framed by 56 Ionic columns and paved with limestone slabs. The unusual oval shape was necessary to connect the Roman main street (the Cardo) with the Temple of Zeus.

Hussein bin Talal (1935–1999) was King of Jordan from the abdication of his father, King Talal, in 1952, until his death. Hussein's rule extended through the Cold War and four decades of Arab–Israeli conflict.
