Description

Established in 1855, the Károli Gáspár Reformed University of Hungary boasts a long and storied history. Originally founded as the Reformed Theological Academy in Budapest, it evolved over the years, undergoing various transformations.

In 1920, it was renamed in honor of Gáspár Károli, a key figure in Hungarian Reformed history renowned for translating the Bible into Hungarian. Over time, the university expanded its academic offerings beyond theology to include faculties such as law, humanities, and social sciences.

Despite challenges during the communist era, including restrictions on religious institutions, the university persevered and maintained its educational mission. Following the fall of communism in 1989, it experienced a period of revitalization and growth, enhancing its academic programs and infrastructure to become a leading institution of higher education in Hungary.

Today, the Károli Gáspár Reformed University offers a diverse array of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across multiple disciplines. Rooted in Christian values, it remains committed to delivering high-quality education while contributing to Hungary's intellectual and cultural landscape.
