Laskarina "Bouboulina" Pinotsis (Greek: Λασκαρίνα "Μπουμπουλίνα" Πινότση; 1771–1825) was a Greek naval commander, heroine of the Greek War of Independence in 1821, and allegedly first woman-admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy.

Depicts a corvette on the sea above value dividing date, state name (Hellenic Republic) above.

In 1988 coins at the base of the value "1" there is engraved mint mark of Athens (Acanthus leaf); there are coins with embossed mint marks and others without mint marks.

Corvettes are small, maneuverable, lightly armed warship, smaller than a frigate, and they were heavily used during the Hellenic liberation fight (1821-1827). When referring to sailing ships, a corvette is a ship-rigged sloop. Almost all modern navies use ships smaller than frigates for coastal duty, but not all of them use the term "corvette."
