Albert Imre Szent-Györgyi de Nagyrápolt (1893–1986) was a Hungarian biochemist renowned for his groundbreaking work. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1937. Szent-Györgyi is celebrated for his discovery of vitamin C isolation and his elucidation of numerous components and reactions within the citric acid cycle, as well as his exploration of the molecular mechanisms underlying muscle contraction. Additionally, he played an active role in the Hungarian Resistance during World War II and later ventured into Hungarian politics following the war.
