The 2018 IIHF World Championship Division I Group A was held in Budapest, Hungary, from April 22 to 28, 2018. Organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), this tournament featured teams vying for promotion to the top division of the World Championship. Competing teams included Hungary, Kazakhstan, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, and Great Britain. Matches took place at the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena.
Great Britain and Italy secured the top two spots, earning promotion to the 2019 IIHF World Championship's top division. The Hungarian team performed well but did not achieve promotion. The event was notable for its enthusiastic local support and contributed to the growing popularity of ice hockey in Hungary.
