Lajos Kossuth de Udvard et Kossuthfalva (1802–1894) was a Hungarian lawyer, journalist, politician and Governor-President of the Kingdom of Hungary during the revolution of 1848–49. With the help of his talent in oratory in political debates and public speeches, Kossuth emerged from a poor gentry family into regent-president of Kingdom of Hungary. He was widely honored during his lifetime, including in Great Britain and the United States, as a freedom fighter and bellwether of democracy in Europe. Kossuth's bronze bust can be found in the United States Capitol with the inscription: "Father of Hungarian Democracy, Hungarian Statesman, Freedom Fighter, 1848–1849".

Depicts the Kossuth coat of arms. The inscription "HUNGARIAN REPUBLIC" appears around the edge, separated by a floral motif on each side. The value is displayed on the left side of the coat of arms, with the inscription "Ft" (Forint) on the right side. The issue date "1946" is split and also positioned on either side of the coat of arms. Below the depiction, the mint mark "BP." is placed.

The Kossuth Coat of Arms is a unique version of the historical Hungarian national coat of arms, distinguished by the absence of the Holy Crown. In 1848, the Ministry of Finance, under Kossuth's direction, adopted the central coat of arms without its crown. It features a distinct Hungarian shield shape with inwardly curved edges at the top and sides. On the left side, against a red background, is a golden crown above a green triple hill with a white apostolic double cross above it. On the right side, red and silver horizontal stripes represent the Árpád stripes. After the Habsburgs were dethroned on April 14, 1849, and independence was declared on April 19, this coat of arms replaced the crowned small coat of arms. It became associated with Lajos Kossuth and was used on Hungarian Honvédség flags, featuring a laurel wreath and sword above the coat of arms instead of the crown.
