Description

The Dubai Police Force, often referred to as Dubai Police, serves as the law enforcement agency for the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Established on June 1, 1956, it began in the Naif area of Deira, Dubai, with only 29 members. The first police station was known as 'Naif Fort'. Over time, the force grew to 105 members by 1960 and to 430 by 1967. In 1973, the headquarters were relocated to their current address in Al-Twar, situated on Al-Etihad Street in Dubai.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (1948–2022), the UAE's second president and ruler of Abu Dhabi from November 2004 to May 2022, was the eldest son of the UAE's first president, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He took on a significant role in the late 1990s due to his father's health issues and officially became Abu Dhabi's leader in 2004. His tenure saw cultural and academic growth, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Etihad Airways. Under his leadership, the UAE became a major economic power. Known for his pro-Western stance, he strengthened ties with the US and Israel.

The term "dhow" refers to traditional sailing ships with one or more masts and lateen sails, used mainly in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. Their origin, whether Arab or Indian, is debated. Dhows, known for their long, slender hulls, serve as trading vessels, carrying heavy cargo like fruits, water, and merchandise along the coasts of Eastern Arabia, East Africa, Yemen, and South Asia. Larger dhows have crews of around thirty, while smaller ones have about twelve members.
