Description

Emirates NBD Bank PJSC, one of the largest banking groups in the Middle East, is Dubai's government-owned bank. Formed as the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) in 1963 by Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, it merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) in 2007 to create Emirates NBD. The bank acquired Dubai Bank in 2012 and operates in several countries, including the UAE, Egypt, India, and the UK.

Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918–2004) was an Emirati leader, credited with founding the United Arab Emirates. He governed the Eastern Region before becoming Abu Dhabi's ruler in 1966 and later the UAE's first president until his passing in 2004. Revered as the "Father of the Nation," he played a pivotal role in uniting the seven emirates. Zayed succeeded his brother as Abu Dhabi's ruler after a peaceful coup in 1966.

The building, located in Dubai's old downtown along the Dubai Creek, stands at 125 meters (410 feet) and is the tallest in Deira. When it was completed in 1998, it was the fifth-tallest building in Dubai. The design of the building was inspired by the curved hulls of traditional dhows that docked at the creek, a concept that also influenced the shape of the Burj Al Arab.
