Description

Animal protection refers to the efforts and actions aimed at safeguarding animals from harm, cruelty, and exploitation. This encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including the promotion of animal rights, the enforcement of laws against abuse, and the conservation of endangered species and their habitats. Organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, work to protect animals through advocacy, education, rescue operations, and lobbying for stronger animal welfare laws. Animal protection also involves promoting ethical treatment of animals used in agriculture, entertainment, and scientific research. The goal is to ensure that animals are treated with respect, dignity, and kindness.

Obverse

Depicts an official emblem of the Laurent Kabila regime within a triangle shape: a mature male lion standing to the left amid grass, symbolizing strength and authority. Above the lion is the country’s name in French, and the denomination is placed below.

Kabila’s regime, which began in 1997 after he overthrew Mobutu Sese Seko, was characterized by efforts to rebuild the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) after decades of dictatorship. His government sought to restore national sovereignty, but faced internal conflict and external pressures, particularly during the Second Congo War.

The chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) is one of humanity's closest living relatives, sharing about 98% of its DNA with humans. Native to the forests and savannas of West and Central Africa, chimpanzees are highly social animals that live in large communities. They are known for their intelligence, using tools, solving complex problems, and communicating through vocalizations, gestures, and facial expressions. Chimpanzees are omnivorous, with diets that include fruits, leaves, insects, and occasionally small mammals. Unfortunately, their populations are threatened due to habitat destruction, poaching, and the illegal pet trade. As a result, chimpanzees are classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Conservation efforts are focused on protecting their natural habitats and promoting sustainable human-wildlife interactions.
