Description

From Christmas to weddings, the sixpence has been associated with special occasions for centuries. It has long been tradition to include one in Christmas puddings or in the shoe of a bride fulfilling the traditional rhyme ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe’. Symbolising luck and good fortune, the coin returns in 2023 and features a unique design in honour of the year of His Majesty King Charles III’s coronation.

Reverse

Depicts a modern reinterpretation of the reverse of the 1928 sixpence, with a variety of flowers symbolizing love, life, and faith—including orchids, lilies, and irises—gracefully surrounding the Tudor Crown.

The Tudor Crown, also known as the King's Crown, is a symbolic design associated with the Tudor dynasty of England, which reigned from 1485 to 1603. It represents authority, monarchy, and the unification of England after the Wars of the Roses. While the actual Tudor Crown no longer exists, its design has been widely reproduced in heraldry and art. Typically, it features a gold frame with a velvet cap, arches adorned with pearls and gemstones, and a cross or orb at the top. The Tudor Crown remains a powerful emblem of the British monarchy and heritage.
