Description

Scouting and youth movements play a vital role in Portugal, fostering leadership, community service, and personal development among young people. The Associação dos Escoteiros de Portugal and the Corpo Nacional de Escutas (CNE) are the two main Scouting organizations in the country. Both are rooted in the principles of the global Scouting movement, emphasizing values such as teamwork, respect for nature, and social responsibility.

Portugal has also been an active participant in international Scouting events, such as World Jamborees and regional gatherings, which highlight its commitment to fostering global citizenship among youth. Beyond Scouting, other youth organizations in Portugal engage in cultural, environmental, and social projects, further empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to their communities while embracing diversity and sustainability.

Reverse

A geographical map of Western Europe spans the outer ring and inner core on the right side of the coin. The inscription 2 EURO is superimposed over the map of Europe, with the numeral “2” located in an open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

12 stars are located on the right side of the outer ring, with six stars atop the map of Europe and six stars below it; six vertical stripes cut across the inner core of the coin, visually connecting the upper and lower star segments.

Luc Luycx, a designer at the Royal Belgian Mint, designed the Euro’s common reverse; his initials, LL, are seen on the right side of the design, just under the “O” in “EURO.”
