The Maltese Ox, known locally as "Il-Ġendus Malti," is a rare and historically significant breed native to Malta. Once an essential part of the island’s agricultural landscape, this robust and resilient animal was traditionally used for plowing fields and transporting goods. Recognized for its sturdy build, calm temperament, and adaptability to Malta’s warm climate, the breed has become a symbol of the country's rural heritage. However, due to modernization and declining numbers, conservation efforts are now in place to protect and preserve this unique livestock breed as an important part of Malta’s cultural and agricultural history.
