Engraver: Christopher Ironside

Obverse

Depicts the Great Siege Monument in the middle, on the upper edge the country name between two dolphins, on the lower edge the year of issue also between two dolphins from the coat of arms of Malta.

The Great Siege Monument in Valletta, Malta, commemorates the heroic defense of the island during the Great Siege of 1565, when the Knights of St. John and Maltese forces repelled an overwhelming Ottoman invasion. Created by the Maltese sculptor Antonio Sciortino in 1927, the bronze monument features three allegorical figures—Faith, Fortitude, and Civilization—each symbolizing the spiritual and cultural resilience of the Maltese people.
