The Xarolla Windmill (Mitħna tax-Xarolla) is a historic windmill located in Żurrieq, Malta. Constructed in 1724 during the rule of Grand Master António Manoel de Vilhena, it stands as one of the few remaining functioning windmills on the Maltese Islands. Originally built for grinding grain, the windmill features a traditional tower design with six sails and retains much of its original mechanism. After falling into disuse, it was restored to working order in the 1990s and now serves as a cultural and educational site, offering insights into Malta's agrarian past. The windmill is part of a complex that includes a farmhouse, a chapel, and catacombs, reflecting the rich historical tapestry of the area. Despite suffering damage to its sails during a gale in March 2022, restoration efforts have preserved its status as a cherished landmark and a testament to Malta's heritage.
