Description

Pratapgarh State, also known as 'Partabgarh', was one of the princely states of India during the period of the British Raj. The state was founded in 1425 as Kanthal state and was later renamed after its capital located in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan. Pratapgarh was a 15 gun salute princely state; its last ruler signed the accession to the Indian Union on 7 April 1949.

A salute state was a princely state in India during the time of British rule which had been granted a gun salute by the British Crown (as paramount ruler); i.e., the protocolary privilege for its ruler to be greeted — originally by Royal Navy ships, later also on land — with a number of cannon shots, as recognition of the state's relative status.

Maharawat: 1890 - 18 Jan 1929 Raghunath Singh (b. 1857 - d. 1929). The rulers of Pratapgarh belonged to the Sisodia dynasty of Rajputs.

The date 1953 in Gujarati and the legend “Samat” in Nāgarī.

Though Gujarati has its own set of numeric signs, they are employed in much the same way as English employs its own; that is to say, they are put together in the same manner in order to express larger numbers.

The Nāgarī script is the ancestor of Devanāgarī, Nandināgarī and other variants, and was first used to write Prakrit and Sanskrit.
