Description

The America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins comprise a series of silver bullion coins with a face value of a quarter dollar. The coins contain five troy ounces of silver, making them the largest silver bullion coins ever issued by the United States Mint. The design of the coins duplicates exactly—though enlarged—each of the America the Beautiful Quarters. They have been issued since 2010 and will continue to be issued until at least 2021.

There are three main differences between the uncirculated and bullion versions of the coin:
- The uncirculated coin comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Mint and is placed inside a plastic capsule and then in a box; the bullion version is shipped in tubes of 10 coins.
- Uncirculated coins are vapor blasted after minting, giving them a matte finish, while bullion coins have a shinier finish.
- Under the "In God We Trust" inscription, the uncirculated coins feature a "P" symbol representing the Philadelphia mint whereas the bullion coins do not have a mint mark.

The Shawnee National Forest is located in the Ozark and Shawnee Hills of Southern Illinois. Little Grand Canyon is a box canyon located in Shawnee National Forest. A small creek with a tiny watershed has carved an impressive rock canyon, leading down to the Big Muddy River. Within the area of the Shawnee National Forest is Hicks Dome, an igneous feature in Hardin County, Illinois. This was formerly speculated to be the result of a hot spot, but some argue it was caused by a meteorite impact.

Quarters are issued depicting designs of national parks and sites in the order of which that park or site was deemed a national site. Release date (national site date): February 1, 2016 (September 6, 1939).

The Garden of the Gods, a wilderness area near the Shawnee National Forest’s eastern side, is one of the region’s most popular natural tourist attractions, drawing sightseers and photographers from around the world and about 150,000 visitors each year. The area is home to Southern Illinois’ most magnificent and recognizable rock formations, sandstone giants that are in many cases named for their shapes, including Camel Rock. Camel Rock has become synonymous with the Shawnee National Forest.

The red-tailed hawk is a bird of prey, one of three species colloquially known in the United States as the "chickenhawk," though it rarely preys on standard-sized chickens. It breeds throughout most of North America, from western Alaska and northern Canada to as far south as Panama and the West Indies, and is one of the most common buteos in North America.

The red-tailed hawk occupies a wide range of habitats and altitudes, including deserts, grasslands, coniferous and deciduous forests, agricultural fields and urban areas. It lives throughout the North American continent, except in areas of unbroken forest or the high arctic. It is legally protected in Canada, Mexico and the United States by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
