Description

The Chinese Zodiac, Sheng Xiao, has its basis in a twelve-year cycle. Each year is represented by one of twelve animals with unique personality traits, with these characteristics being passed on to people born in that year.

In 2016, we celebrate the ninth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar monkey include 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004 and 2016. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be intelligent, quick-witted, optimistic, ambitious, and adventurous.

Obverse

The obverse side of each coin features Queen Elizabeth II’s right-profile portrait. Engravings on this side include “Elizabeth II,” “Australia,” and the coin’s weight, purity, metal content, year of minting, and face value as “15 Dollars.”
