A World Heritage Site is a place (such as a building, city, complex, desert, forest, island, lake, monument, or mountain) that is listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as being of special cultural or physical significance. Currently, 10 properties in the Netherlands and Curaçao are inscribed on the World Heritage List. Nine of these are cultural properties and one is a natural property. The first was added to the list in 1995 and the latest in 2014. Eight properties are in the Netherlands, one is in Curaçao, and one is in both the Netherlands and Germany. The Van Nelle Factory has the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014.

The Van Nelle Factory coin was designed by Kianoosh Motallebi. The coin incorporates modern minting techniques, such as micro-raster.

The former Van Nelle Factory (Dutch: Van Nellefabriek) on the Schie river in Rotterdam, is considered a prime example of the Constructivism. It has been a designated World Heritage Site since 2014. In 2015, the Van Nelle Factory topped the list of The 25 Most Beautiful Factories in the World.

The buildings were designed by architect Leendert van der Vlugt from the Brinkman & Van der Vlugt office in cooperation with civil engineer J.G. Wiebenga, at that time a specialist for constructions in reinforced concrete, and built between 1925 and 1931.

In the 20th century it was a factory, processing coffee, tea and tobacco and later on additional chewing gum, cigarettes, instant pudding and rice. The operation stopped in 1996. Currently it houses a wide variety of new media and design companies and is known as the Van Nelle Design Factory ("Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek" in Dutch). Some of the areas are used for meetings, conventions and events.

Mint master's mark: sailboat (Maarten Brouwer).
Mint mark: caduceus (Mercury's wand, a short staff entwined by two serpents, sometimes surmounted by wings), the logo of the Royal Dutch Mint (Utrecht, the Netherlands).
