Description

Bhumibol Adulyadej (1927–2016), conferred with the title King Bhumibol the Great in 1987, was the ninth monarch of Thailand from the Chakri dynasty as Rama IX. Reigning since 9 June 1946 he was, at the time of his death, the world's longest-reigning head of state, the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history and the longest-reigning monarch having reigned only as an adult, reigning for 70 years, 126 days. During his reign, he was served by a total of 30 prime ministers.

Y# 328.1 was minted by Royal Thai Mint (RTM) and Y# 328.2 was minted by Italian Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS). IPZS did all processes from large plaster model sent from RTM. That's why the detail is slightly different. And the center dics made by RTM is larger than those from IPZS too.

Depicts the Royal Ceremonial Emblem in honor of His Majesty the King's 50th Anniversary of Accession to the Throne, known as the Golden Jubilee, on 9 June 1996. Surrounding the emblem are inscriptions of the date and value. At the center is the Royal Seal of the King, adorned with the Chakri Dynasty crest and the Royal Crown, resting on a double-footed gold tray symbolizing the constitutional monarchy. Flanking the seal are two white elephants, each bearing a tiered royal umbrella. These elephants, once royal carriers, represent loyal Thai subjects serving their monarch, while white elephants symbolize might, wisdom, and prowess, befitting a great ruler. Additionally, elephants are national symbols, signifying long life and the enduring history of the Thai nation, as depicted in their portrayal on the national flag.
