Obverse

The inner section shows an effigy of King Philippe in profile facing to the right. The royal monogram (crowned FP) and the indication of the country (BE) on the left. Date below, surrounded by the mint director's privy mark (left) and mintmark (right). The outer ring of the coin depicts the twelve stars of the European flag.

Philippe or Filip (born 15 April 1960) is the King of the Belgians, having ascended the throne on 21 July 2013, following his father's abdication.
