Description

The 1980 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Moscow, Soviet Union, in present-day Russia. The Moscow Olympics were the first Olympic games to be held in a socialist country.

The Isle of Man, also known simply as Mann, is a self-governing Crown dependency in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland. The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who holds the title of Lord of Mann and is represented by a Lieutenant Governor.

Second crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. Lettering around outside, mint mark of Pobjoy Mint (PM) and date below.

The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara was a wedding present in 1947 from her grandmother, Queen Mary, who received it as a gift from the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland in 1893 on the occasion of her marriage to the Duke of York, later George V. Made by E. Wolfe & Co., it was purchased from Garrard & Co. by a committee organised by Lady Eve Greville. In 1914, Mary adapted the tiara to take 13 diamonds in place of the large oriental pearls surmounting the tiara. At first, Elizabeth wore the tiara without its base and pearls but the base was reattached in 1969. The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara is one of Elizabeth's most recognisable pieces of jewellery due to its widespread use on British banknotes and coinage.

11 athletes representing summer Olympic sports (Boxing, Athletics, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Cycling etc.) surround the Manx triskelion.

The Manx triskelion ("three legs of Mann") is the symbol of the Isle of Man's (also known as Mann). A triskelion of three legs conjoined at the thigh, which dates with certainty to the late 13th century, is of uncertain origin. The symbol appears in the island's official flag and official coat of arms, as well as its currency.
