Stylized dragon in the shape of the year 2000, year of the Republic and the state name (Republic of China) above, value below.

The Dragon is the fifth of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. Each year has an animal sign according to a 12-year cycle. Years of the Dragon include 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024.

Following the Chinese imperial tradition of using the sovereign's era name and year of reign, official Republic of China documents use the Republic system of numbering years in which the first year was 1912, the year of the founding of the Republic of China.
