Description

Jaora State was a 13 gun-salute princely state of the British Raj. It was part of the Malwa Agency. It was divided into four tehsils, Jaora, Barauda, Tal, and Barkhera. The chief crops were millets, cotton, maize and opium.

Nawab Mahommed Ismail (r. 1865-1895), was the Nawab of Jaora in India and an honorary major in the British army.

This coin was a part of the first issue of machine struck coins for Jaora and bears the date in three systems.

Obverse

Jaora's Flag and Urdu script "Du Paisa" and date 1310AH inside a circle, with Hindi script "Government of Jaora" above and date VS1950 below.
