The Šarplaninac or Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog is a dog breed of the livestock guardian type named after the Šar Mountains. The Šar Mountains form a mountain range in the Balkans that extends from Kosovo and the northwest of North Macedonia, to northeastern Albania.
