The Man of Labour series is issued to promote various professions.
The commemorative coin Metallurgy Worker (Metallurgists) is devoted to the workers of one of the most important industries which comprises the processes of metal extraction form metal ores and other raw materials. The development of such industries as automotive, aircraft, machinery, shipbuilding, and power energy directly depends on the availability of high-quality metal products.
Metallurgy derives from the Ancient Greek μεταλλουργός, metallourgós, "worker in metal", from μέταλλον, métallon, "mine, metal" + ἔργον, érgon, "work". The word was originally an alchemist's term for the extraction of metals from minerals, the ending -urgy signifying a process. In the late 19th century it was extended to the more general scientific study of metals, alloys, and related processes.
