Description

From AH 1430 (2009) to AH 1431 (2010) the style of the Q in BANQUE changed. Earlier coins have the slash separate from the main circle while later coins have the two parts connected. The images below are from AH 1430 and AH 1431.

Obverse

National emblem divides date above value surrounded by the inscription "Central Bank of Mauritania" in French.

The Mauritania coat of arms is made up of a green circle with a grayish border. Inside of the circle, a gold star and crescent are located, as well as a palm tree. The green symbolizes Islam, the major religion in the nation, and the gold represents the sands of the Sahara desert.
