Obverse

Depicts the logo of the National Council for Women in Egypt, surrounded by the inscriptions "Egyptian Women and the Millennium Goals", "National Council for Women" and "Fourth Conference 26 March 2004".

The logo depicts the Egyptian Renaissance sculpture in granite by Mahmoud Mukhtar (1919–1928, Giza) and shows Sphinx and a woman raising up her veil. The Sphinx represents antiquity and the woman is the symbol of an awakened Egypt. The figure of the woman was a reference to the Egyptian women's movement led by Huda Sha'arawi, who decided to go unveiled in 1922 and had organised anti-British demonstrations.
