In the beginning of year 1920, Egyptian Engineers decided to set up a united organization, one group of Engineers formed the Royal Society of Egyptian Engineers to back up the British irrigation projects, while another group has formed a professional syndicate to oppose them, however, Fuad I of Egypt King of Egypt granted formal recognition to the former group in 1922, but it remained a staid debating society with high dues and membership requirement and disappeared eventually, however, it has revived as The Egyptian Engineers Syndicate which was established as the Engineering Professions Union that was established by law no. 89 of year 1946, it was due partly to the impact of wartime inflation on salaries of younger engineers partly to the need of an old age pension plan for employees of the works ministry, but it never called a strike.
It was developed over the year due to the political and social development and changes that Egypt faced especially after the year 1952, the current legal framework that organizes the syndicate works and defines its goals and areas of activity today is represented by the law no. 66 issued in 1974.
