Description

The 1994-W Prisoner of Was Commemorative Silver Dollar was struck to commemorate the National Prisoner of War Museum located in Andersonville, Georgia. It was one of three similarly themed commemorative silver dollars released by the United States Mint during the year. The other programs were issued for the Women in Military Service Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The National Prisoner of War Museum is a memorial to all American prisoners of war. Exhibits use art, photographs, displays, and video presentations to depict the capture, living conditions, hardships, and experiences of American prisoners of war in all periods.
