Đorđe Vajfert (1850–1937) was a Serbian industrialist, Governor of the National Bank of Serbia and later Yugoslavia. In addition, he is considered the founder of the modern mining sector in Serbia and a great benefactor. His portrait appears on a Serbian 1000 Dinara banknote.
In 2010, when promoting the new circulation coin, 100 coins in the vacuum package were given to journalists and promotion guests.
