Description

The Ministry of Health and Population is an Egyptian ministry responsible for providing, managing and developing central health services, both curative and pharmacological, in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

King Ahmed Fouad I had a diabetic coma and was treated by his private Egyptian doctor, Dr. Muhammad Shaheen Pasha. When Fuad I woke up from this coma, he said to the doctor, “Thank you, Minister.” Based on this phrase, a royal decree was issued to establish the Ministry of Public Health in January 1936.
