Obverse

Depicts Sammallahdenmäki, country name in Finnish and Swedish below, engraver's initial (N) above.

Sammallahdenmäki is a Bronze Age burial site in Finland near Rauma, in the region of Satakunta. The site includes 33 granite burial cairns dating back more than 3,000 years, to 1500 to 500 BC. Sammallahdenmäki is one of the largest, most complete, and most important Bronze Age sites in Fennoscandia, and was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1999.

A number of the burial cairns have their own names and stories. The best-known burial cairn, Kirkonlaattia (“Church Floor”), is said to have been built by goblins, no less.

Historical Satakunta is situated on the areas of modern provinces of Satakunta and the most of Pirkanmaa, also little areas of Central Finland and Southern Ostrobothnia. The name of the region literally means Hundred. The coat of arms is a bear holding in both paws a sword crowned by a ducal coronet.
