Fauna is one of the first three coins released in the Northern Nature coin series. It was issued together with Flora and Winter coins. All coins issued in the series in 2012 share the same reverse, which depicts snowflakes. Six coins in total have been minted: Summer, Flora, Fauna, Winter, Wilderness and Waters.
The Proof quality coins are packed together with Flora and Winter coins in a purse made by the design company Globe Hope from recycled materials.
