Depicts the Turku Cathedral, country name in Finnish and Swedish above, engraver's initial (N) on the right.

Close to the River Aurajoki rises Finland’s national shrine. Through the centuries, Turku Cathedral has been a vivid part of the city’s skyline and has grown along with the region and its inhabitants. The church was built in several stages, and architecturally it represents the Romanesque and Gothic styles, among others. The church has been beset by fires and attacks by enemies, but during its more than 700-year history it has time and again risen to its previous glory.

Turku Cathedral (Finnish: Turun tuomiokirkko, Swedish: Åbo domkyrka) is the only medieval basilica in Finland and the Mother Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. It is the central church of the Lutheran Archdiocese of Turku and the seat of the Lutheran Archbishop of Finland. Its presence extends beyond the local precinct by having the sound of its bells chiming at noon broadcast on national radio. It is also central to Finland's annual Christmas celebrations.

Depicts the historic coat of arms of Finland Proper, a region of Finland surrounded by the value and the date above. Engraver's initial (T) and the mint's logo (lion) on the right.

Finland Proper's capital and biggest city is Turku. The area comprising the southwest is largely the same as the historical province of Finland Proper, so named because it is the original home of the tribe known as the Finns.

The coat of arms of Finland Proper is crowned jousting helmet in front of two lances. On each lance is attached a forked hanging flag charged with a Scandinavian cross. Arms granted at the burial of Gustav I of Sweden in 1560 and crowned by a ducal coronet.
