Description

The German Federal Republic’s Ministry of Finance and Münze Deutschland have started a new five-part series with the theme “In the Service of Society”, which would be issued every year over the period 2022-26. The series brings into focus the particular significance of groups of professions that are essential to the functioning of our society and the lives of every one of us. It is an expression of respect and appreciation for these people who invariably act in the interests of the common good. The coins in the series will feature a polymer ring in a colour that is characteristic of the respective occupational group.

The second coin in the series focuses on a group whose wide-ranging responsibilities are much more than fighting fires and has a polymer ring in the typical colour of the fire service.

Obverse

Depicts a stylised eagle centred with the year of issue placed just under and the denomination of 10 EURO shown below the eagle. The issuer Federal Republic of Germany is placed along the top edge. On the outside of the polymer ring are 12 stars representing the European Union arranged as six stars on each side in a semi-circle. A mintmark is shown just above the eagle with all five national mints represented with: Berlin (A), Munich (D), Stuttgart (F), Karlsruhe (G), and Hamburg (J).

The coat of arms of Germany displays a black eagle with red feet, beak and tongue on a golden field. This is the Bundesadler or "Federal Eagle", formerly the Reichsadler or "Imperial Eagle". It is a re-introduction of the coat of arms of the Weimar Republic (in use 1919–1935) adopted by the Federal Republic of Germany in 1950. The current official design is due to Tobias Schwab (1887–1967) and was introduced in 1928.
