At the Great Pharaonic Theater in the Media Production City, the Cairo Radio and Television Festival opened in its tenth session, held from 23 to 27 June 2004, under the slogan "Media and Human Rights". Participants competed in 24 competitions, 9 radio competitions and 15 television competitions, and the number of prizes awarded was 89. The festival's session was considered a session of special importance, as it is the tenth session in which the festival completes a decade of success as the most important Arab radio and television festival. On this occasion, the Radio and Television Union issued a commemorative gold coin in the category of one pound and five gold pounds bearing the festival's logo. It is awarded to the winners of the creativity prizes in the festival's competitions. A set of commemorative postage stamps was also issued in cooperation with the National Post Authority, and a record of honor was also issued that included the personalities and photos of the creators who won the festival prizes in previous years, as well as the media and creators who were honored.
